On Sunday January 7th 2018 this new fundraising challenge began in Hastings with the team calling in to three churches to launch the event.
The runners, starting at start/finish line of the Hastings Half Marathon ran 8 miles and spoke to worshippers at 3 churches before finishing at the award-winning Hastings Pier. Speaking to the congregations of St Leonards Baptist Church, Sonrise Church and His Place Commnunity Church, the runners explained the plight of the children TREAD work with and their plans for completing the almost 5000 mile challenge.
The TREAD2India challenge was the concept of Alex Grant, following news of the loss of a major funder to TREAD. Whilst still working with more than 300 young people, over 400 young people lost access to educational support. The run is designed, not only to raise funds, but to raise awareness of the work done by TREAD.
